J&G broadens its transformation initiative , 2004/12/10
Eighteen months after long established consulting engineering group Jeffares & Green (J&G) acquired a 25% share in Makhetha Development Consultants, a highly regarded firm of consulting engineers specializing in sanitation projects, the association has been considerably expanded. At that time, husband and wife owners Seetella and Martha Makhetha were appointed directors of J&G (Pty) Ltd, in which they also became shareholders.
With effect from 1 September 2004, however, they have acquired equity in the J&G Partnership, which owns J&G (Pty) Ltd and all the other companies within the Group.
At the same time Aubrey Mokoatsi, the co-founder and majority shareholder of Geldart, Mokoatsi & Associates, a very successful company operating in the field of social development, has also acquired equity in the J&G Partnership, with concomitant ownership of the Group, and has been appointed a director of J&G (Pty) Ltd.
The new developments in the Partnership brings the total black ownership of the Group to 31%. In developing its transformation process over the past few years, J&G has chosen to build mutually beneficial relationships with compatible partners, a process which has now culminated in these welcome additions to the Partnership.
While there is a considerable overlap of the expertise available within the various companies, their focus differs considerably and the services that they offer complement rather than compete with each other, enabling them to draw upon each others’ capabilities to mutual advantage.
