Jeffares & Green rebrands to JG Afrika
South Africa remains the beloved country; a land of great opportunity. So too the continent of Africa. One engineering and environmental consultancy has pledged its commitment to the country, its love for the continent, and its dedication to a transformed and democratic Africa. To express this commitment, and in celebration of its continued independence, the firm, formerly known as Jeffares & Green, embarked on a rebranding exercise at the end of 2015.
The challenges around closure and rehabilitation of landfill and contaminated sites
When a Waste Disposal Facility (WDF) has reached its full capacity, in terms of the license for the site, it needs to be closed and rehabilitated. Recent legislation, which regulates the rehabilitation of such landfill sites, has made this a capital-intensive procedure for the license holder, usually a municipality.
Consulting firms appointed for Lesotho water project
Three consulting engineering firms have been awarded contracts that are collectively worth more than M40-million, about R39-million, as part of the advance infrastructure works for the multibillion rand, binational Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), being undertaken by the governments of Lesotho and South Africa.
Agricultural and community groundwater supply projects
In many rural parts of South Africa, access to groundwater provides the only realistic option for a sustainable, safe drinking water supply. In the Maputaland coastal flats of Umkhanyakhude, R5.94 million was allocated in 2014/2015 for some 29 prioritised projects for which JG Afrika was a turnkey appointment.
